Become a Burroughs Home & Gardens Tour Guide
Are you a history buff? The Uncommon Friends Foundation is looking for men and women who would like to become docents at the Burroughs Home & Gardens. Docents provide tours of the historical Georgian Revival style home, located on the banks of the Caloosahatchee River in the downtown River District of Fort Myers, Florida. The Burroughs Home & Gardens is one of the oldest homes in Fort Myers, dating back to 1901 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Tour days and hours vary. Training and a docent manual are provided.

Directions & Parking
Burroughs Home & Gardens is conveniently located on the banks of the Caloosahatchee River in historic downtown Fort Myers, Florida. Our street address is 2505 First Street, on the corner of Fowler and First Streets. We are accessible from I-75 and US-41, which are the main roadways running from as far East as Miami and North to Tampa. Located just 20 minutes from Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) and the islands of Sanibel and Captiva, it’s easy to find the Burroughs Home & Gardens.
The office of the Uncommon Friends Foundation is on the second floor of the historic Burroughs Home & Gardens. Parking is available across the street at the Langford-Kingston Home.
Take I-75 South to Exit 138, Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd (SR 82). Exit and head West into Downtown Fort Myers (about 4 miles). Make a right onto Evans Ave, Evans Ave becomes Park Ave. Turn left onto First Street (SR-80). Turn left on Fowler Street. Make first left into parking lot of red brick house with white trim. Park there. Burroughs Home & Gardens is directly across First Street. Take US-41 South into Downtown Fort Myers. Once you cross over the Caloosahatchee River take the first off ramp into Downtown. The ramp exits onto West First Street. West First Street becomes First Street. Turn right onto Fowler Street (one way street). Make immediate left into parking lot behind red brick house with white trim. Park there. Burroughs Home & Gardens is directly across First Street.

Make a right onto Martin Luther King Blvd. At the Lee Street traffic light make a soft left onto Thompson. Cross over Fowler, make first left onto Hough, go two blocks and turn left into parking lot behind red brick house with white trim. Burroughs Home & Gardens is directly across First Street.
Take McGregor Boulevard North past the Edison Ford Estates towards Downtown. Just past the Estates, make a left onto West First Street, this turns into First Street. Turn right onto Fowler Street (one way street). Make immediate left into parking lot behind red brick house with white trim. Park there. Burroughs Home & Gardens is directly across First Street.
